SGI Vehicle History
We're committed to finding the vehicle that's right for you, and to help us do that, we are proud to provide a SGI history report with every car on our lot.
What is SGI?
The Saskatchewan Auto Fund is the province's compulsory auto insurance program, operating the driver licensing and vehicle registration system. The Auto Fund is financially self-sustaining, operating on a break-even basis over time. It does not receive money from, nor pay dividends to, the government.
SGI CANADA is the trade name of the property and casualty insurance division of Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) which offers products in 5 Canada's provinces. It operates SGI CANADA in Saskatchewan, SGI CANADA Insurance Services Ltd. in Alberta, Manitoba and British Columbia, and Coachman Insurance Company in Ontario. Products are sold through a network of independent insurance brokers.
What Details are Included in an SGI History Report?
- The status of the vehicle (if any).
- Its most recent Saskatchewan registration expiry date.
- Its damage claims history in Saskatchewan since Nov. 1, 2002.
- Whether the Saskatchewan PST is payable.
The results only include claims paid under SGI's Auto Fund licence plate insurance.
This search does not provide information about any inspection requirements or check to see if a vehicle has been reported stolen in other Canadian jurisdictions. If you wish to know if the status of a vehicle is stolen, you can check on the Canadian Police Information (CPI) Centre national search or request a Cross-Canada VIN search. If you want to know whether a vehicle requires an inspection you can find out with a Cross-Canada VIN search.
Note: Always ensure you know the history of any vehicle purchased from the U.S.
What You'll Need
To look up the vehicle's history you'll need the VIN, which can be found in 1 of the following places on the vehicle:
- Driver's side dashboard.
- Driver's side door pillar.
- Your vehicle registration certificate.
- On motorcycles, the VIN can be found on the frame.
